After setting the course for the MCU for the next few years, notably by revealing that Phases IV, V and IV would be united under the name “The Multiverse Saga”, Kevin Feige revealed that the villainous Kang would, unsurprisingly, be the central element
Phase IV has been widely criticized for its lack of guidelines, even though Kevin Feige had described it as a transitional stage. Since San Diego Comic-Con, which was held less than a week ago, the horizon seems much less vague since a course has been set: the releases of two Avengers films, The Kang Dynasty then Secret Warsin 2025, to conclude what the boss of Marvel Studios calls “The Multiverse Saga”.
A long-term story which, on arrival, will have lasted in just over four years, encompassing the films and series of Phases IV, V and VI. Where it took a little over a decade to tell “The Infinity Saga”, spanning Phases I, II and III. In an interview given to Comicbook.com on the sidelines of the event panel, Kevin Feige made some revelations about the upcoming program, in particular referring to the character on which everything will be based.
Unsurprisingly, and like Thanos before him, it will be the big bad, Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors : “I told him that there were no other shoulders than his on which I would like to rest the saga of the multiverse”, says the producer. “What Jonathan Majors can do is very impressive, with all these different incarnations – or variants if you like – of Kang. It’s pretty cool.”
Pass after the Thanos of Josh Brolin is not an easy task, but Kevin Feige does not worry: “What I like [chez Kang], is that he is very different from Thanos. It’s not just about having a bigger purple guy with a helmet. No, it’s not Kang. Kang represents a different kind of villain, and the fact that he’s many, many characters is what sets him apart and makes him more exciting.”
AMERICAS, AMERICAS
Seen in the season 1 finale of LokiKang will be back in February in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which should give us a little more insight into the threat he will pose. Jonathan Majors isn’t attached to any other Marvel projects at the moment, but no doubt his shadow will hover, as his character is able to travel between dimensions, space and time.
Powers that are reminiscent of those of America Chavez, introduced in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with his ability to travel within the multiverse. The young woman could therefore be called upon to play a key role, but her interpreter does not know anything about it for the moment, even if she is well aware of the potential of her character: “I can’t ignore the fact that his powers allow him to travel across the multiverse, and the next chapter in the MCU is called, quite literally, the multiverse saga”answered Xochitl Gomez at Insider.

America Chavez in “Doctor Strange 2”
As Infinity War and Endgame, it would be surprising if the next Avengers films did not seek to bring together all the heroes still alive in the MCU. This should allow America Chavez to return, to the delight of his interpreter: “I think Kang Dynasty will be really cool, because Kang seems like a super villain. I can’t wait to see what they have planned for him and what he will unleash.”
“I hope America will be in a project related to Kang. I think it would be cool, and a lot of fun on my end. I would have a blast! There is still a lot to tell in the story [d’America]. Obviously, with such powers, she still has to learn a lot about them, but also about herself and her mothers.” As expected, Kevin Feige’s revelations raise a lot of questions. But we will have to be patient before we have all the answers.
