End clap for Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom. Director Guillaume Canet announced it in video on his Instagram account. We can see him shaving the blonde mustache of the little Gallic.
Shooting completed for Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Empire! Guillaume Canet unveiled a video on his Instagram account where we can see him having his Gallic mustache shaved.
The actor, who directs the feature film, also plays the cult little Gallic alongside his sidekick Gilles Lellouche, who plays Obelix.
After 17 weeks of filming, the French super-production has therefore slammed its last clap. “End of shooting !!! Thank you very much to all this extraordinary team that I had the chance to have by my side”, commented Guillaume Canet.
As a reminder, Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Empire was filmed in Auvergne and in the studios of Bry-sur-Marne. The film is based on an original script, and not adapted from one or more previously published comics. This is the first time, excluding animation, that an Asterix film will have a completely new story, imagined by Philippe Mechelen and Julien Hervé.
The idea was launched by the producer Yohan Baiada, which interested Editions Albert René (owners of the work of Uderzo and Goscinny). Here is the starting point of the story as presented by Guillaume Canet:
“A chariot arrives in the Gallic village with the Chinese princess Fu Yi who came to ask for help after the coup d’etat of a certain Deng Tsin Qin, who overthrew the empress. The reputation of the die-hard Gauls is known until Shanghai “.
Expected for 2022, this new episode of Gauls resisting the invader again and again benefits from an all-star cast! Vincent Cassel, Marion Cotillard, Jonathan Cohen, Ramzy Bedia, Manu Payet, Pierre Richard, Bun-Hay Mean, Audrey Lamy, Philippe Katerine, Julie Chen and even footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic! Not to mention a host of guests like singer Angèle, youtubers McFly and Carlito or rappers Big Flo and Oli.
