This August 25 on CANAL + and myCANAL, and after the success of Normal People, a new adaptation of a work by Sally Rooney promises to pick us up. In Conversations with Friends, head to Dublin to meet Frances, Nick, Bobbi, Melissa…
A keen observer and erudite student, nothing escapes Frances…except perhaps her own feelings. If she leaves a relationship with Bobbi, she remains inseparable from her ex-girlfriend with whom she does not hesitate to stage their poems.
But everything changes when she meets Nick’s charming smile. In order to exorcise her demons, she writes down her heart stories that we follow through the 12 episodes of this first season.
It’s at Alison Oliver that Lenny Abrahamson and Leanne Welham, the creators of the series, entrusted the complex score of the young Frances. For her very first role on screen, the Irish actress takes up the challenge brilliantly!
Joe Alwyn as Nick
Canal +
A slightly disillusioned theater actor, Nick may be lost in his own feelings, but he is certain of one thing: having an extramarital affair does not pose the slightest problem for him. If the seducer is quick to lure Frances into his net, he is much less skilled when it comes to expressing his feelings…
Joe Alwyn perfectly embodies the dark young man. In addition to his acting talents, the one we saw in Final Operation and Boy Erased is a fine music lover who notably composed and wrote for a certain Taylor Swift !
Sasha Lane is Bobbi
Canal +
Coming straight from New York, Bobbi has a strong character and boundless energy. She defines herself as Frances’ “muse”, and although she thinks she has turned the page on their relationship, seeing her ex fall into the arms of a man brings her back to her fear of abandonment.
Sasha Lane plays Bobbi in this adaptation of the novel by Sally Rooney. Revealed by her role alongside Shia Labeouf in American Honey in 2016, she also holds that of Jessica Hyde in Utopia. More recently, she has made a name for herself in Loki !
