Robert Rodriguez has revealed that he is developing an animated version of his cult film, with a screenplay signed by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Kurtzman.
After Alita: Battle Angel in the cinema and an episode of season 2 of The Mandalorian, Robert Rodriguez multiplies the projects. In an interview with SFX Magazine On the occasion of the promotion of the film It is us the heroes on Netflix, the director of Sin City and Machete revealed that he was working on an animated series adapted from his cult film, based on vampires and bars clandestine!
Creator of the American television channel El Rey Network in 2013, Rodriguez produced from 2014 to 2016 a first television adaptation of A Night in Hell, which has since joined the Netflix catalog.
“I have my own TV channel here“, he explained to the magazine.”And I had to create programs. Like Quentin [Tarantino] and I still own the rights to the film, I told him that I would love to expand the story of Santánico Pandemonium, and all the Aztec vampire culture for my channel.“
This was the starting point for the series, inscribed in the continuity of the film released in 1996 and co-written by Tarantino, in which two criminals (George clooney and Quentin Tarantino) take a family hostage near the Mexican border after kidnapping a store worker. They then go to a Var beyond the Mexican border, the “Titty Twister”, an establishment that has many surprises in store for them after dark …
Stopped after three seasons, the series could now expand into an animated version, according to the director. “Now we advance, we develop One night in hell in animation.“Rather than a remake, this new adaptation will be a continuation of the series broadcast on El Rey, and will explore more in depth the universe created by Rodriguez, Tarantino and Robert Kurtzman.
