Aired from November 3, 1993 to June 23, 1999 on CBS in the United States, the cult sitcom Une Nounou d’enfer, worn by Fran Drescher in the role of the tornado Miss Fine, made the heyday of the group M6 in France, which has rebroadcast it many times over the past decades.
On the occasion of the arrival yesterday of the complete series in French version on the Salto streaming platform, discover what has become of the interpreters of Fran, Maxwell Sheffield, Niles, or even CC Babcock since the shutdown of Une Nounou d’enfer (The Nanny in VO) 22 years ago.
Fran Drescher – Fran Fine
Since the end of Une Nanny d’enfer in 1999, Fran Drescher has tried several times to regain success thanks to the comedies On the side of Fran, Happily Divorced, and more recently Indebted, broadcast in 2020 in the United States but still unprecedented with us, which all stopped after one or two seasons for lack of audience.
Seen in the film After Class, opposite Justin Long, she has been lending her voice in original version since 2012 to Eunice, Frankenstein’s wife, in the Hotel Transylvania saga, the 4th installment of which is expected in theaters this fall.
Charles Shaughnessy – Maxwell Sheffield
After the series, Charles Shaughnessy lent his voice to Dennis in the animated series Stanley and reappeared in the soap Days of Our Lives, in which he was already present before A Nanny from Hell.
The now 66-year-old comedian also reunited with Fran Drescher in Fran’s Side in 2005 for several episodes and made an appearance in Happily Divorced six years later.
Since then, he has increased participation in series, from Mad Men to The Magicians, in which he played the recurring role of Christopher Plover, via Castle, Revenge, or Masters of Sex. But he has never really found a major leading role since Mr. Sheffield.
Nicholle Tom – Maggie Sheffield
Revealed by her roles in Beethoven 1 and 2, Nicholle Tom played Maggie in Une Nanny d’enfer until the end of the series in 1999.
She then lent her voice to Supergirl in the animated series Superman and Justice League Unlimited between 1998 and 2006, and has multiplied television films and guest roles in series such as Castle, FBI missing, Mentalist, Cold Case, Gotham. , or Criminal Minds. But, at 43, her career has never really taken off since she said goodbye to the cult sitcom.
Madeline Zima – Grace Sheffield
Obviously, since 1999, little Grace has grown up! Seen in many series including Gilmore Girls and 7 at home once A Nanny from Hell was over, Madeline Zima found an important role in 2007 thanks to Californication, the drama with David Duchovny, in which she played Mia for about twenty episodes.
Also in the credits of season 4 of Heroes in 2009, she then appeared in the Amazon Betas series in 2013 and appeared in Vampire Diaries, in the first two episodes of the return of Twin Peaks in 2017, and more recently in Perry Mason and in Good Girls.
Benjamin Salisbury – Brighton Sheffield
The interpreter of Brighton disappeared from the Hollywood industry after the end of the series in 1999. We could hardly see him again in 2005 in an episode of the detective series Numb3rs. But Benjamin Salisbury, now 40, now works at Universal Studios Park, where he is vice president of operations.
Lauren Lane – CC Babcock
Since the end of the series A Nanny from Hell, Lauren Lane, aka CC Babcock, has left the small screen but has continued to perform on stage at the Zachary Scott Theater in Austin, Texas, in various productions. While focusing on her role as a mom as she gave birth to a daughter, Kate Wilkins, in 1998.
