No one who has ever been through the job-hunting process would tell you that it’s for the faint of heart – between writing your resume, creating a cover letter that can be easily tailored to a specific employer, answering the online application questions, and then navigating online interviews, it’s just a lot to handle.
And that’s just for one job – most of us go through at least part of the process dozens of times before finding something we hope to love.
She was applying to be a flight attendant and was required to record her answer to a set of questions – and you only get one chance at it – when she realized too late that she had started recording before she was ready.
“This is the stupidest cheesiest question I’ve ever read in my life. I can’t word this properly. And you have to record yourself saying it so it’s so awkward,” she said, all while the cameras were rolling.
It wasn’t long before Chaylene realized her mistake, and really, there was no way to backpedal.
“Oh no! I’m so sorry I didn’t realize it was recording. I was practicing, sorry.”
Luckily she was able to laugh at herself, uploading her gaffe to TikTok with the caption “Def not getting the job. Sorry Skywest.”
Poor Chaylene got more attention than she bargained for, because the TikTok went viral and her current boss saw it, which means she’s on thin ice at her current job as well.
Lesson learned, I suppose, and now hopefully none of us will make the same mistake!
