Redmi 9 is a big upgrade. While we are used to smartphones being leaked well in advance, it is rare that a company makes public their entire release. Xiaomi’s budget competitor, the Redmi 10, did exactly this.
Although the official announcement blog post was removed, we were able to save a snapshot. The details reveal that the budget phone is a major upgrade to the Redmi 9.
Inadvertently, Xiaomi released full details about the Redmi 10
This budget phone features the first 50MP sensor in this series and a 6.5-inch, 90Hz display.
Pricing and availability are still unknown.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has a more striking appearance, and borrows many aesthetic characteristics from the more expensive phones. You can choose from three colors: a matte option in Carbon Gray or Pebble White and a shiny Sea Blue option.
Let’s start with the screen. Redmi 10, which is a 6.5-inch adaptive 90Hz screen with FHD+ resolution, lands. To save battery and improve performance, the screen will choose the most efficient refresh rate based upon usage. The MediaTek Helio G88 handles processing and is paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. This cocktail includes a 5,000mAh battery and 18W charging power. The box also includes a 22.5W charger.
The Redmi 10’s first 50MP primary camera is now available in the base series. This is a significant upgrade to the 13MP Redmi 9’s primary camera, which struggled in low light. The 8MP ultra-wide camera is joined by 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensors. An 8MP punch-hole selfie camera is also available.
Additional key features include dual speakers and a 3.5mm headset jack. There is also a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. MIUI 12.5 comes out of the box.
Redmi 10 Price and availability
Although the pricing of the phone was not revealed in the blog post, we don’t think Xiaomi will push beyond the Redmi 9 ($220), launch price in Europe. This bracket will also be dominated by the firm.
The announcement post lists August 18 as the date of publication. This is not confirmed by Xiaomi. Expect more information to emerge in the near future.
